Baby yoga is a gentle class combining parent-led stretching, soft movements, songs, and sensory play for infants. The Parent guides their baby through slow, supportive motions to help build motor skills, ease digestion, and strengthen the bond between Baby and their Parent.
Ideally starting from 3months of age, Babies can typically lift and support their own heads which opens up a much wider and more dynamic variety of yoga positions, lifts and gentle transitions.
Infants from 3months of age are much more alert and engaged but not yet independently mobile so therefore will happily stay on the yoga mat for longer periods of time.
Just the same as baby massage, and not being able to do the activity when baby is asleep we can not do baby yoga either. At this age babies are awake for much longer periods during the day.
From 3 months of age it is the prime developmental window for baby to be starting to roll and preparing to sit upright unsupported. Baby Yoga works gently on Babys core. They are also more tolerant to having 'Tummy Time' and so much happier when placed in the tummy down positions.
